This scheme of work is designed to cover the various learning objectives linked to the new Edexcel GCSE English (9-1) curriculum for 19th Century Fiction. Contained in it are 12 lessons, each labeled with a skills focus and a theme, along with LO's and notes for each session. The attached cryptograms cover the subject of Christmas from different angles. The first looks at 'The Festive Season around the World'; the second looks at 'Being Homeless or Lonely at Christmas'. They are a great way to prompt student thinking about the not-so-often thought of elements of the season. Answers are also included.

This is one way of helping students understand how to plan and draft their work and ideas on presenting a speech. The speech train provides a visual representation of their speech - showing how each section should be linked and how important it is to have a direction and destination for your speech. I enlarged this to A3 before getting the students using it, then it's spacious enough for lots of ideas!
